LIFE GUARD TRAINING
Our Life Guard Training course is designed to teach candidates the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. This includes First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. For most current class information call 219-942-2183 Ext. 17 or email email@example.com
To enroll in the life guarding course, you must be at least 15 years of age before the last scheduled class session.
To participate in the course, you must be able to demonstrate the following skills:
Swim 300 yards continuously, using these strokes in the following order:
1.) 100 yards of front crawl using rhythmic breathing and a stabilizing, propellant kick
2.)100 yards of breast stroke using a pull, breathe, kick and glide sequence
3.) 100 yards of either the front crawl or breaststroke. The 100 yards may be a combination of front crawl and breast stroke.
Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breast stroke, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10 lbs. object, return to the surface; swim 20 yards back to starting point with the object and exit the water without using the ladder or steps, within 1 hour, 40 seconds.
COURSE LENGTH: 34 Hours (includes pre-course session)
CERTIFICATION: CPR 2yr, Life Guarding & First Aid 3yr Life Guard Training
RENEW: Renews certification for individuals currently Red Cross certified in Life Guard Training and CPR for the Professional Rescuer Cost: $150.00
First Aid/CPR/AED for Workplace and Communities: Participates are trained to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illness. Optional training is available covering blood borne pathogens and the use of asthma inhalers, epinephrine auto injectors and manufactured tourniquets.
