GROUP EXERCISE INSTRUCTOR

The Group Exercise Instructor will be primarily responsible for providing quality leadership and supervision, in aerobic and/or fitness classes, while maintaining a safe, non-competitive environment for YMCA members.

 Experience leading group exercise is preferred.  Knowledge of basic exercise science, biomechanics principles and fitness class leadership is required. Ability to successfully demonstrate aerobic choreography.  Verbally provide clear concise directions and visually inspect classroom for safety.  Maintain current certifications in CPR AED, First Aid, and Child Abuse Prevention within 90 days of hire. YMCA Healthy lifestyles and Foundations of Group Ex Instructor Certification within 1 year of hire.

LIFE GUARD

Must be available to work days, evenings and weekends. Must possess current Red Cross or YMCA Life guarding Certification, CPR/First Aid, and pass a skills test.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.

2. Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergencies immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and the “safe-in-six” model. Completes related reports as required.

3. Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and other staff.

4. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code.

5. Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.

6. Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.

7. Performs chemical testing when not guarding, as required, and takes appropriate action.

8. Attends all staff meetings and in-service training.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum age of 16.

2. Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen.

3. Current YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent.

4. Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.

5. Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.

Physical Demands:

1. Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility. Remain alert with no lapses of consciousness.

2. Meet strength and lifting requirements.

3. See and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility.

 

 

PERSONAL TRAINER

The Hobart Family YMCA is currently seeking an experienced and energetic Personal Trainer to develop impactful relationships with members and guide clients towards health-related goals.  The ideal candidate will enjoy working with a diverse community of individuals, and have a passion for improving the lives of others through health and fitness.  A National Personal Training Certificate is required and a current certification in CPR for the Professional Rescuer with AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration must be obtained within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities: Develop and maintain a personal training client base. Create impactful relationships with members, clients. Perform fitness assessments and equipment orientations.

1st CHOICE SITE LEADER

Site Leader to work with school-age children after school Monday through Friday.  Applicant must be at least 21 years and love to work with school-age children.  Some of the duties: to be responsible for the safety of the children at all times, to help plan and lead a stimulating recreational/educational enrichment program, confer with parents on behavior, health and development of the children in the program, attend all staff training meetings and complete all assigned webinars. To model the YMCA character values of honesty, caring, responsibility and respect.

1st CHOICE  MORNING SITE AIDE

AM Site Aide to work with school-age children before school Monday through Friday at the Hobart Family YMCA.    Applicant must be at least18 years and be available every day at 6:00 a.m.

1st CHOICE  AFTERNOON SITE AIDE

PM Site Aide to work after school Monday through Friday at a school site in one of the Hobart City Schools or River Forest Community Schools.  Applicant must be at least 18 years to apply for the position.  Some of the duties are:  to be responsible for the safety of the children at all times, help site leader plan and assist in a stimulating recreational/educational enrichment program, attend all staff training meetings and model the YMCA character values of honesty, caring, responsibility and respect.

MINI BUS DRIVER / SUB

Mini Bus Driver/Sub to work to transport school-age children throughout the school day Monday through Friday to Hobart City Schools or River Forest Community Schools.  Applicant must be at least 21 years, have experience driving a van or mini school bus.  Summer hours are also available.  Applicant will need a Chauffeur’s License and provide the Y with an annual Motor Vehicle Report.

SPORTS ASSISTANT - Youth Sports

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Sports coordinator, the youth sports assistant is responsible for assisting in the delivery of youth sports, and youth recreation.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Work closely with the Sports Coordinator in identifying, developing and running programs and activities with YMCA goals and objectives.

2. Knowledge of league sports programs a must.

3. The incumbent must be self-motivated, proactive, reliable, and highly organized.

4. Secures athletic fields and facilities. Transports and sets up equipment for games and practices; monitors and reports damaged sporting equipment to Coordinator.

5. Maintain cleanliness of gym, sports closets, shed and field.

6. Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.

7. Support and lead assigned teams through all sports seasons.

8. Coach and Officiate games as needed.

9. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.

10. Provide for the safety and well-being of all program participants.

11. Assist in introducing new programs to the YMCA membership and community. Stay in touch with current trends and technical developments to keep programming innovative.

1. Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise                     program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations.

2. Ability to adequately observe participants’ activities, and enforce safety regulations. Physical        capabilities to bend, stoop, climb and move/lift objects up to 50 lbs in weight.
